Sometimes It’s Hard…

Sometimes its hard to be the person you want to be…

I want to be a wonderful mom, loving wife, great friend, helpful daughter, fun sister, and overall I want to be a good healthy person. But sometimes I need to step back and get perspective. I want to feed my family a healthy organic diet and do it on one income. I want to get myself back into pre-pregnancy shape. I want to have a healthy clean home, with no harmful chemicals. I want to go back to school.

I just have to remember that I can’t do all this at once. It is going to take time to change habits, work on a new budget, loose weight, and get things in order to go back to school. I have to remind myself that I am not superman…although I wish I was sometimes :) Its ok to have a cookie once in awhile, to not clean the house and play with the baby all day instead, and it is going to take time to get back into shape. Patience is not my strong suite but I am working on it.

There is some much pressure in the world to be on top of everything, look great all the time, and be as close to perfect as possible…but I think sometimes the biggest pressure is put on us by ourselves. My family and friends are not the ones looking for me to be perfect…I am the one who wants to be perfect for them. I don’t need to compare myself to others, I need to focus on the wonderful things I have in my life and slowly work towards my goals…pushing myself too hard and expecting too much just sets myself up for feeling some sort of failure.

I hope other women out there will remember that the ones who really love us don’t expect us to be perfect…its not possible! Remember to take time each day to be thankful for all that you have and look at the beautiful things around us.

Yummy Dinner!

I made this wonderful salad last night for dinner and thought I would share the recipe.

Steak and Arugula Salad

1/2 head of Romain (Chopped)

1/2 Red Onion (cut in thin slices)

3 C. Fresh Baby Arugula

12 cherry tomatoes, halve

1 pound of steak (grilled and then chilled)

Top with:

4 ounces Gorgonzola, coarsely crumbled

1/2 cup walnuts

Dressing:
1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste

This was a great light, but filling dinner.

Found the Recipe here, many more amazing salads.

Where Are The Manners?

Where have peoples manners gone? Do people still teach there children to say “Please” and “Thank You”? What about the idea of “Do unto others and you would like them to do unto you”?

I have noticed that so many people in today’s world think they are privileged and everything should just be given to them. Yesterday we were sitting at a friends house handing out candy and one little girl came up and we said go ahead and take one and her response was “I Know”…no thank you!

How about all of these reality TV shows that just show tons of bad behavior and no respect for others. Why are these shows popular….personally I can not stand them. They are everything that is wrong with today’s society. These people are making tons of money to run around party, drink, fight, and show complete disrespect for everything around them.

And then I watch the news and I hear about all of the horrible bulling going on in schools. I can’t believe what these kids are doing and saying to each other. We need to teach our children how to respect others and treat others as we would want to be treated. That is what I was always taught growing up. I know kids will always be kids to a point, but relentless bulling…should not be tolerated by parents or teachers.

What about those people who always drive to the front of the line when sitting in construction. That drives me crazy and every time I think “Does this person really think they are better then everyone else sitting in line waiting to get through” “Is the place they are going really more important then where everyone else is heading?”

We need to get back to some old fashioned morals and values. Teach our children how to be respect people who care about others and the world around them. People should not be able to just do whatever they want and think there are no consequences. I hope this starts to change before my little boy starts school.
