My Favorite Green Smoothie

Green smoothies are my favorite breakfast! Its easy, fast, and portable and packed with nutrition!  Its a great way to get your kids to eat items they either don’t like or can’t eat yet. My 2 year old actually likes most greens but has a hard time with chewing spinach raw so this works perfect for me. There are hundreds of variations on smoothies that you can make. I love the fresh flavor of this recipe. And as you can see I do a lot of shopping at Trader Joe’s :)

Ingredients:

Unsweetened Coconut Milk (I prefer the least amount of added sugar as possible)

Baby Spinach

Non fat Greek Yogurt

Frozen pineapple (make sure it is just pineapple, some frozen fruit has added sugars)

Banana

I am not much for measuring! I am usually making this smoothie for myself and my 2 year old. So I take a 12 oz glass and fill it most of the way with the coconut milk, add a couple good size handfuls of spinach, one full banana, a handful of frozen pineapple and a large spoonful of yogurt.

Now its time to drink your smoothie and enjoy the wonderful taste and the fact you are starting your day with lots of nutrition.

Nature Mama Soap!

I have been working a new project lately. I have started my own business called Nature Mama Soap. I create handmade soaps. It started out as a way to create a safe soap for myself and my family to use. I would use it myself and give it away as gifts. I started getting so much great feedback that I decided to turn it into a business. Its a crazy new adventure starting a business while being a stay at home mom of a 2 year old!

I am learning as I go and I know it will be a process, but I welcome the challenge and hope to create beautiful soap that people love.

All of my soap is made in small 3 or 5 pound batches using the cold process method. I use all organic and natural ingredients. My goal is to have soap that is good for your skin and has no harsh chemicals or artificial additives. I can’t believe how much stuff is in most soap, body wash, and shampoo that is on the shelves in most stores. It is full of ingredients that I can not pronounce or have any clue what they are. I prefer to know exactly what I am putting on my skin.

Although I do not currently live there my heart belongs to northern Michigan!!! Some of my soaps are in the shape of the state of Michigan. They are perfect to put in summer cottages, bed and breakfasts, and hotels. They are also great for gift baskets!

So far I am enjoying this process and I am sure I am going to learn a lot along the way. My goal is to take things as they come and keep moving forward. It feels so good to create something and share it with everyone.
